She was living abroad in England, attending the historic Bethesda Baptist Church, Kensington [Dr. David Smith] when she was overwhelmed with the burden of sharing the saving power of Jesus Christ with her family and friends back home in the the mountains of Northern Luzon, Philippines. During Florenda De Guzman's next visit home she bought a piece of land and contracted to have a house built on the lot. With the house completed and during her next holiday a year later she began a Bible study bringing several people to Christ. She recruited a student at a Baptist college to preach and lead the services every Sunday and thus the Temple Baptist Church was born.
